Numbers
Contents: Numbers in Spanish including audio
We’re going to learn how to count in Spanish. If we know the numbers, we’ll be able to count, tell prices, the time, dates,… Here you have the chance not only to read them, but to also listen to them as often as you want. Repeat each number out loud and learn to count at least up to 10. Little by little you’ll be remembering the numbers and in no time you’ll reach 100 (and more).

From 0 to 10
Here you have the numbers in Spanish from zero to ten. Like in English, with these numbers you’ll be able to build the rest. Listen carefully to the recordings and repeat each number out loud to help you memorize them:
cero
zero
uno
one
dos
two
tres
three
cuatro
four
cinco
five
seis
six
siete
seven
ocho
eight
nueve
nine
diez
ten

From 11 to 19
The numbers in Spanish from 11 to 15 are exceptions, from 16 onwards they become alot easier. You simply have to say: diez + number. It’s like in English: number + teen:
once
eleven
doce
twelve
trece
thirteen
catorce
fourteen
quince
fifteen
dieciséis
sixteen
diecisiete
seventeen
dieciocho
eighteen
diecinueve
nineteen

From 10 to 100
Now we’re going to learn the tens (10, 20, 30,…). Once you know the tens and the units (1, 2, 3,…) you won’t have any problem to say any number in Spanish from 16 to one hundred (see further below):
diez
ten
veinte
twenty
treinta
thirty
cuarenta
forty
cincuenta
fifty
sesenta
sixty
setenta
seventy
ochenta
eighty
noventa
ninety
cien
one hundred

From 100 to 1000 … and more
Now it’s time for the hundreds (100, 200, 300,…). To form them, simply take the number between 2 and 9 and add “cientos”. (“siete” turns to “sete” and “nueve” to “nove” like with the tens). Careful – 500 is an exception:
one hundred
cien
doscientos
two hundred
trescientos
three hundred
cuatrocientos
four hundred
quinientos
five hundred
seiscientos
six hundred
setecientos
seven hundred
ochocientos
eight hundred
novecientos
nine hundred
mil
one thousand
un millón
one million

How to count up to 1000
Counting up to a thousand in Spanish is very simple. You just have to put one number next to the other and put an “i” in between the tens and the units. For example, to read 765 we have to say the words corresponding to “700”, “60” “i” and “5”:
treinta y cuatro
thirty-four
ciento seis
one hundred and six
doscientos nueve
two hundred and nine
setecientos sesenta y cinco
seven hundred and sixty-five
ochocientos ochenta
eight hundred and eighty
